With previews for 2026 and a special tribute to Tonino Guerra

Amid the excitement of the Venice Film Festival, the Saturnia Film Festival has cast a spotlight on its future with a special event at the Lido. The traveling festival organized by the Municipality of Manciano—now a cult event in the heart of the Maremma—unveiled the first new features of its ninth edition (July 30–August 2, 2026) and announced a tribute to Tonino Guerra, on the centenary of his birth.

President Antonella Santarelli and artistic director Alessandro Grande discussed the festival’s journey and its future prospects, joined by Paolo Orlando (Medusa Film), Teresa Pasquini (Rai Cinema), and Mario Mazzetti (ANEC-FICE). Journalist Claudia Catalli moderated the meeting.

More than just previews: the evening also celebrated the FEDIC Awards, historic recognitions that have always championed creative freedom and expressive autonomy, in keeping with the spirit of the Saturnia Film Festival. The occasion also served to reaffirm valuable alliances with the Matera Film Festival, the Clorofilla Film Festival, and the London Rolling Film Festival, building a bridge of collaboration and exchange between award-winning works.

Finally, the announcement filmmakers have been waiting for: the call for applications for the 2026 edition will be open on FilmFreeway from October 1, 2025.
