Two competitive sections dedicated to short and feature films will be featured, alongside special events involving various local municipalities, maintaining the itinerant nature that has always characterized the festival.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span dir=\"auto\">Saturnia Film Festival 2026: A Tribute to Anna Magnani<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The 2026 edition of the\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxidrivers.it\/festival-di-cinema\/saturnia-film-festival\"><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Saturnia Film Festival<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0will<\/span><\/a><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0\u00a0pay homage to\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Anna Magnani<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, an absolute icon of Italian and international cinema, on the seventieth anniversary of the Oscar she won for\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Daniel Mann<\/strong>\u00a0&#8216;s\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">The Rose Tattoo\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0\u00a0(1956), which consecrated her as the first Italian actress in the history of the Academy Awards to win the statuette for Best Actress.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0The festival&#8217;s official image, designed by Davide Pompili<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0\u00a0and inspired by her,\u00a0\u00a0will also celebrate her talent and legacy . The tribute will continue with a screening of\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Anna<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0\u00a0by and with\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Monica Guerritore<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, an intimate and powerful story dedicated to the actress&#8217;s life and artistic journey.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Monica Guerritore<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, director and star of the film, will also be the guest of honor on the evening of Friday 31 July for the screening of her film.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span dir=\"auto\">Furthermore,<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">Rounding out the Feature Film Competition are two films that were protagonists of the last film and festival season:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Le citt\u00e0 di pianura<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0\u00a0by\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Francesco Sossai<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, an instant cult of this year&#8217;s Italian cinema and winner of the latest David di Donatello awards, a road trip story across the Veneto plains starring three unlikely outsiders, and\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Il rapimento di Arabella\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0by\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Carolina Cavalli<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, a road movie that sees the unexpected encounter between a young woman trapped by her regrets and a little girl determined to escape from it all, in a delicate and surprising tale about the desire to change the past.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The ninth edition of the\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Saturnia Film Festival<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0\u00a0once again offers a Short Film Competition dedicated to the best short films from around the world, divided into three sections: Italy, International, and Animation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">Among the international titles in competition:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Choice\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0by\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Marko Crnogoroski<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, the story of a woman forced to face the brutal reality when a new law bans scheduled abortion. Next up is\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Normal\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0by\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Lara Panah-Izadi<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, in which a hypersensitive man is forced to confront the violence of his own emotions. Meanwhile,\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Rhubarb Rhubarb\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0by Kate McMullen centers on a family who runs a thriving rhubarb farm in Yorkshire.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span dir=\"auto\">It doesn&#8217;t end here<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">Among the Italian titles: the dystopian\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Arborea\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0by\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Letizia Zatti<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, in which vegetation has mysteriously stopped reproducing and a scientist monitors the sound frequencies of an oak tree, until one day she hears a new sound;\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Arca\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0by\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Lorenzo Quagliozzi<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, in which a group of Hollywood filmmakers fight to preserve cinema from the end of history;\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Tempi aggiuntive\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0by\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Matteo Mem\u00e8<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, in which a motorbike trip will allow a father and son to finally address their complex relationship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">For animation:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Mud\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0by\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Caterina Salvadori<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0\u00a0and\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Mariasole Brusa<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, in which the &#8220;mud&#8221; of the title is told from a poetic, creative, and material perspective. Also in the mix is\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">\u200b\u200bRetirement Plan\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0by\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">John Kelly<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2026 Oscars, in which the protagonist Ray daydreams about his future in retirement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">Finally,\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Rukeli\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0by\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Alessandro Rak<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, a story dedicated to Johann Wilhelm Trollmann, who became middleweight champion in Nazi Germany, the first Sinto, or \u201cgypsy\u201d, to win this title in world boxing.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span dir=\"auto\"><em><strong>The Women&#8217;s Views<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0section is back again this year\u00a0<em>,<\/em><\/span><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">Produced in collaboration with\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Mujeres nel Cinema and the Olympia de Gouges Association, the<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0\u00a0film features three short films directed by women and focusing on women&#8217;s issues.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">Gente per bene (Good People)\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0by\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Irene Girotti<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, in which the protagonist Luna, a middle-class student, tries to help Alina, a Ukrainian woman in Italy without a residence permit.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>\u00a0Eva Dematt\u00e9<\/strong>\u00a0&#8216;s\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span dir=\"auto\">La parola amore non esisteva (The Word Love Didn&#8217;t Exist\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0), in which the director follows her grandfather&#8217;s daily life, imagining that his recently deceased grandmother is with him. This is followed by\u00a0\u00a0<strong><em>Punti nascosto (Hidden Points\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0) by\u00a0<strong>\u00a0Beatrice Baldacci,<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0in which a seventy-five-year-old woman finds the strength to regain her freedom through an encounter with a young seamstress. Trapped in a life of control, she finds the strength to regain her freedom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The festival program is completed by the\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Art Short School<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0section , directed by David Pompili, with videos by students from the Gandhi Institute of Narni that will remain on display at the Polo Culturale Le Clarisse in Grosseto for all days of the festival as well as at the Polo Culturale Pietro Aldi in Saturnia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The full program for the ninth edition of the Saturnia Film Festival will be announced in the coming weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The tribute to Anna Magnani and the titles of the 2026 edition.
